SUMMARY: You have certain important legal rights as an independent contractor. You have the right to be informed what you will be paid in advance of an assignment. You also have the right to know when you will receive payment. This Handbook and your contract include this important information.
You should use your own judgement, discretion and creative skills for every project. We won’t direct you specifically how to capture weddings. The wedding couple might provide a timeline or a shot list — but this is merely a suggestion or a guide. You are encouraged to make your own decisions based on your artistic skill and talent to capture the wedding consistent with your discretion.
You must hold a business license for the jurisdiction where you will perform your services. As an independent contractor, this is an important obligation.
You must use your own equipment. We do not supply cameras, lenses, lights or any other equipment for you. We do not have specific requirements for your equipment other than that you meet general industry standards.
We may from time to time offer guidance, support and education consistent with industry standards and practices. For example, you may receive guidelines for best practices regarding family photography portraits consistent with industry standards. You should not interpret this guidance as being a specific requirement or instruction. We entered into a contract with you because we want you to exercise your own judgment and use your own creative decision-making at weddings.
