12. Emergencies & Cancellations

It’s important to be prepared for situations where you might not be able to attend a wedding. Your contract is a legal commitment to perform services. It is your responsibility to honor your contract.

Your contract contains an indemnification clause, which means you’ve agreed to reimburse us and “make us whole” if you cancel an assignment. This includes refunding the client and reimbursing us for our costs.

So, what happens if there’s an emergency or you find out you can’t make it to a wedding?

FIRST, you must CALL THE EMERGENCY LINE. Make sure to reach us immediately.

SECOND, please remember it is still your responsibility to honor your contract. We can help you navigate an urgent situation, but you have work to do on your end. You should immediately try to find replacements. We will review their portfolio and may agree to allow them to replace you on the assignment when you sign a replacement contract.

Some contractors ask what happens if they’re sick, their car breaks down, or a family member gets hurt. These are stressful and difficult situations, but these do not excuse you from your obligation. You are responsible for honoring your contract. That’s why it’s important that you prepare for emergencies or other life events.
