5. Audio Recording

SUMMARY: You are responsible for recording excellent audio. You suggest to capture 2 USABLE track of audio files for the ceremony and toasts. Always have back-up audio for redundancy. You cannot rely on the DJ. Sound boards from DJs fail all the time, sometimes in the middle of a ceremony. The DJ’s sound system is a third backup source.

IN-CAMERA AUDIO – ALWAYS RECORDING

Never disable in-camera audio. Always have your cameras set to record in-camera audio no matter what. This is not a substitute for lavalier microphones nor does it preclude or replace any other guidance in this handbook regarding audio recording.

Higher Frame Rate footage files may record without audio.

INTERNAL RECORDING VS. WIRELESS LAV

We highly prefer with internal recording. Wireless recorders have more risk with losing audio. Strongly recommend to NOT attach the receiver (RX) to the camera. It will only get audio when the camera is rolling. This will risk losing important audio when cutting the recording.

CEREMONY

  1. One (1) lavalier microphone on the officiant
  2. One (1) lavalier microphone on the groom
  3. Optional external recorder from DJ’s soundboard – only as a backup
    • XLR Cable
    • Quarter Inch to 3.5 RCA Cable

If anyone does not want to be mic’d, notify us in the Payment Request Form. Try to still get 2 usable audio source.

RECEPTION

If the DJ says or does anything to interfere, it is your responsibility to inform the couple immediately. Let the couple make the decision. Explain the consequences.
