Summary: You may photograph an engagement session for a client when you are also their lead wedding photographer. It’s a great way to meet the client and put them at ease.
Our planning team will help coordinate the date and time. We’ll ask the couple to provide several dates. You’ll get to choose which date works best for you.
LOCATION
A regular “local” session takes place within the city limits of Seattle, Denver, Portland, Los Angeles, San Diego or San Francisco, or any of our other main cities. Beyond that, there is a mileage payment. Most clients choose a location within the city limits to avoid a travel fee.
YOUR IDEAS FOR LOCATION
You are welcome to suggest other locations that might be more convenient to you personally. In that case, you can offer to waive the travel fee. For example, if you live in Tacoma, you can suggest the client take their engagement photos in Tacoma, and waive the normal travel fee from Seattle. The client would still be entitled to a session in the city limits of Seattle if they choose.
DURATION
The session is 1 hour. It’s important to us that you’re paid fairly for your time.
- If the couple is late, the session still ends at the original time.
- The 1-hour begins when you arrive at the parking lot.
- If the couple wants to change outfits, this is still part of the 1-hour.
- If the couple wants to hike, this is still part of the 1-hour.
ENGAGEMENT CHATS
We use Dashboard to communicate with clients about engagement sessions. After you’ve been assigned a session, you’ll see a green button called “Engagement Chat” on Dashboard.
That’s how we’ll chat together with the client about basic logistical things — like precise arrival time, meeting spot, etc!
RESCHEDULING
It is always your choice. The client can never decide to reschedule. You are welcome to be flexible, but you should not feel pressured to reschedule. The client knows the policy. It’s in their contract.
