Summary: We sometimes post weddings as an Open Project if we are looking for team members to request an assignment. An Open Project is an invitation for team members to apply to weddings outside of their regular area. You are responsible for travel costs not described in the application.
Open Projects generally involve something special or unique, such as an overnight hotel stay, weekday weddings or a long drive. They don’t always have anything special. If they do, we’ll tell you in the notes.
When we post an Open Project, we’ll explain any special circumstances or extra payments. If you don’t see anything in the notes, it means there’s nothing special or unusual about the pay!
It’s important to understand some basics about Open Projects.
- The Open Project details contain all the extra information or payments about the wedding.
- Every Open Project has a designated Home City, just like every other wedding.
- You will not be paid extra for travel to get to the Home City.
- Anyone can apply for an Open Project, even if you live in a different region.
- If you apply for an Open Project, our assumption is you will be in this region anyway or will make your own personal travel plans — you will not be paid anything extra to get there.
- We do not know the timeline of the wedding. You should assume it’s an all-day availability assignment, just like any other wedding.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many hours is the wedding?
We don’t know. Couples generally don’t finalize their timelines until a week before the wedding. All wedding assignments will be at least 5 hours.
The Open Project says the Home City is Orlando. If I do not live in Orlando, will you pay for my plane ticket to get to Orlando?
No, contractors may shoot other weddings in different city hubs. We will only pay travel based from the City Hub.
What other extra pay or lodging is included?
If you don’t see it explained in the posting, it’s not included.
Will I be paid regular mileage?
Yes. For example, if the Home City is listed as Boston, you’ll be paid the regular mileage rate starting and ending in Boston. If there’s additional pay, such as a hotel, we’ll tell you in the posting.
